Acting Manager (Marketing)

My career has had a few twists and turns, but the common thread running throughout it all is a close connection to marketing. 

I consider myself a life-long learner. My education started with a diploma in business management with a focus on marketing from College of the North Atlantic. Later I received a bachelor of business administration from Memorial University. I have a real thirst for knowledge and I embrace learning at every chance I get. I read, stay up-to-date on industry news, and I take advantage of as many professional development opportunities as possible. However, I know there is still much to learn. That’s why every week I try to learn from my colleagues -- a great team of committed and talented professionals in the Division of Marketing and Communications. 

I started my career with Memorial in 2009, and today I am proud to support Memorial’s marketing and communications team while acting in the role of marketing manager. This is fourth position I’ve held within the division. 

Before joining Memorial, I worked in the commercial print industry, starting with Jesperson Press, followed by nearly a decade with some very fine folks at Stirling Press. From there, I accepted a position with the Better Business Bureau of Newfoundland and Labrador, working to promote honesty, ethics and fair play in the local business community. During my time with the BBB, usage rates increased about 400 per cent. The values instilled in me during that time continue to underpin everything I do here at Memorial. 

I prefer to avoid the spotlight and support my colleagues from the wings in any way that I can. I have been known to jump in where needed, from co-ordinating print, signage and digital assets for convocation to shooing pesky ducks out of the scene during a video shoot. What can I say? My talents are broad and continuously growing.
