Getting Around

Getting to and from the airport will require a taxi. There is a City Wide taxi stand at the arrivals door and taxis are on hand to meet all incoming flights. In addition there are a number of taxi services that you may wish to use, these are three of the main cab services:

Cabs are plentiful in town and a convenient way to get around (Legend has it that the City Wide and Jiffy Cabs dispatchers are cousins). We also offer a metro bus service, for more information, visit the Metrobus website or ask a concierge about the best routes.

If you are interested in renting a vehicle, we have a variety of companies in town. Most have booths at the airport. Keep in mind that Newfoundland is an island and there are fewer than 500 rental cars available in the province. September and October are still tourist season and rental cars are in high demand. If you plan on renting a car – especially if you want to get out of the city to places like Cape Spear or the East Coast Trail – make your reservation early. Here are a list and their websites:
