Welcome New Students!

Memorial to offer remote program delivery for winter 2021

You are not required to return to campus for instruction for the winter semester 2021. In very rare circumstances where travel is deemed essential to your studies, and you meet all the criteria at the federal and provincial levels, you may be permitted to return in person for your studies this winter. Please visit our resource pages to learn more about the criteria necessary to plan your return to Newfoundland and Labrador.

We are so happy you have chosen to study at Memorial University of Newfoundland (St. John's campus). Our team of advisors and student staff are here to help whether you need arrival information, or just a friendly chat. We can talk to you about health insurance, career options, immigration procedures and settling in to your virtual campus life.

Due to the unprecedented pandemic, Memorial’s winter semester, like that of our counterparts across Canada, will be offered via remote instruction. You can keep yourself up to date about how Memorial University is responding to the COVID 19 by visiting our central information hub.

If you are planning to come to Canada and have received final approval from the Federal Government, do not book your travel without the authorization from Memorial University. All new international students are required to self-isolate on-campus. On January 3, 2021 you can request to self-isolate on-campus by filling out the IO arrival form found here

Authorization to enter and study in Canada is the responsibility of the Government of Canada through the department of Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and Canadian Border Service Authority (CBSA)

It is important that you seek the necessary authorization to enter Canada and keep abreast of changes related to travel authorization and restrictions
