New International Students, Fully Vaccinated

After you have completed the arrivals form, here are your next steps:

  1. See if you qualify for a quarantine exemption - Please review the Government of Canada's website too see if you meet the eligibility requirements. Vaccination does not necessarily mean you automatically qualify for an exemption from self-isolation (quarantine) upon arrival - this is determined at the border when you arrive in Canada.  If you meet the eligibility criteria and will apply for a quaratine exemption, please inform selfisolation@mun.ca when submitting your travel information.

  2. Develop and write-down your quarantine (self-isolation) plan. Even though you are fully vaccinated, you are still required to have a suitable quarantine plan prepared in case you develop symptoms along the way, or are refused an exemption at the border. Fully vaccinated students can have a quarantine plan in the community (e.g. rental apartment) and are not required to book one of our approved hotels. Your plan should include:

    1. The type of accommodation you will be in for self-isolation (examples)
    2. The location where you will stay for at least 14 days
    3. How you plan to get your meals and essentials delivered to you
    4. How you plan to be separate from other people / housemates
    5. Evaluate your plan at the Government of Canada's Website

  3. Provide your flight information and quarantine plan (where you will quarantine should you be required to do so) to our Self-Isolation team by email before you plan to travel. A shorter time frame may delay the delivery of pertinent travel documents for you.
Note: If you choose a hotel/Airbnb as part of your quarantine plan, please submit the booking confirmation along with your flight information.

Please be advised that you cannot quarantine in another province at this time.
