Study abroad

Memorial University has more than 140 student programs, exchanges and research partnership agreements with academic institutions all over the world, and significant opportunities to study, collaborate, work and live during semesters abroad.

Memorial's Go Abroad page provides more information on study abroad options, and the Internationalization Office helps prepare students for studying internationally.

We are currently working on expanding the study abroad opportunities that are available to our current HKR students but that doesn’t mean you can’t look into finding your own study abroad opportunity! You can certainly work with the Internationalization Office to see what universities in countries that interest you could be a possibility for you. Once you identify possible universities, contact us and we can then look into making it work for your HKR studies.

It is good to note that we have a strong connection to the University of Kassel (https://www.uni-kassel.de/uni/en/) as well as the University of Postdam (https://www.uni-potsdam.de/en/university-of-potsdam.html), both located in Germany. Many of our HKR students have completed study aboard semesters at these universities in the past.

To determine the best timing in your degree to explore the idea of studying abroad, it might be a good idea to look on your degree map to see which semester has the most electives; this would allow for greater flexibility. For example: BPE: Year 3 Winter or Year 4 Fall might work best. BREC: Year 3 Fall or Year 4 Fall might work best. BKIN: Year 2 Winter or Year 4 Fall might work best. And for the BHKRC: Year 3 Fall might work best.
