Current Opportunities

The Harris Centre Fellowship

We’re excited to launch a new year-long fellowship program to help tomorrow’s policy leaders gain the skills and networks they need to make a difference! Learn more by visiting our Fellowship page below.

Local Research Archive

We fund applied research projects in Newfoundland and Labrador that range from water sanitation, to folklore, to democratic innovations. Check out our online archive of over 20 years of reports and find resources for class or inspiration for your next project!

Public Forums & Events

We host policy forums, public talks, workshops, and other free events open to the public throughout the year. These events are a great way for students to learn about how policy is discussed and communicated in real-world settings.

Follow us on social media or sign up for our newsletter below to see what’s coming up next!

Local Data from the RAnLab

Need local statistics for a project? New to working with census data? RAnLab is here to help!

The Regional Analytics Lab (RAnLab) is a data analysis and modeling unit within the Harris Centre. Visit their website to read Data Dives on key local issues, take free trainings on data literacy, access curated resources and dashboards, and much more.

Funding Opportunities

Many of our funding opportunities are open to Memorial students and post-docs. Check out the Fund and Awards page to see what’s available!

UArctic Programs

Memorial is a member of UArctic, a network of universities across the global Circumpolar Arctic region. UArctic offers study abroad exchanges (North2North), funding, networking, workshops, and more!

Visit their site to see the full range of opportunities.

Student Employment

Interested in working with us? Harris Centre students take on diverse projects from coding and data science to communications and writing. Keep an eye out for Harris Centre and RAnLab positions through MUCEP and GradSWEP throughout the year!

Memorial University Courses

The Harris Centre partners with Memorial faculty to offer joint courses at our Signal Hill campus that bring real-world case studies, guest speakers, and applied research projects into the classroom.

Past classes have conducted research for Municipalities of Newfoundland and Labrador, and investigated new methods of participatory democracy for the province.

Course offerings vary from semester to semester. Look through upcoming courses or contact the Political Science Department to see what's available!
