Taith is a mobility programme that aims to invite the world to Wales, and hosting people in Wales is a fundamental principle of the programme.
- For students who study at Cardiff for the whole academic year 24/25 we will be able to offer a one- off grant of £1250.
- For students who study at Cardiff University for the Autumn or Spring semesters 24/25 we will be able to offer one-off grant of £500.
These grants will be paid directly to the students once they are in Cardiff and fully enrolled in their programme of study and on completion of the relevant documentation.
This year Cardiff was also ranked 2nd in the 2023 NatWest Student Living Index meaning we are one of the most cost-effective cities for UK students, and one of the most affordable.
We hope that the financial support from the Welsh Government combined with the lower living costs of Cardiff make us an attractive option for your students – we look forward to welcoming more of them to study with us next year.

University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) is a voluntary association of government and non-government representatives of the higher education sector. The general aim of UMAP is for the countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve a better understanding of the cultural, economic, and social systems of the other countries and territories in the region through enhanced cooperation among higher education institutions and increased mobility of university students and staff.
With the generous support of Global Affairs Canada, the UMAP International Secretariat, currently hosted at Vancouver Community College, is providing funding for study abroad programs (physical and virtual) within the UMAP consortium.
The UMAP-Canada scholarships are available to Canadian citizen students of Canadian UMAP member institutions to study at UMAP member institutions in other countries AND for foreign nationals from a UMAP member institution to study at UMAP Canada member institutions on an approved UMAP program (physical or virtual) starting between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024. The scholarship value is based on the type and length of the program.
Eligible Programs or study abroad terms must be registered in the UMAP Student Connection Online (USCO) system or pre-approved for consideration by UMAP IS.
