Communication and Culture Program - Summer 2018
The Communication and Culture Program is a 4-week program created to meet the needs of English language learners of all levels who are interested in improving their English language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in a fun and friendly environment. It consists of 25 hours of English language classes and workshops, in addition to other fun filled activities. The goal of the program is to improve English language skills while building confidence to speak in English. The activities included in the 25-hour program will give learners the opportunity to meet local people in the community and participate in fun cultural events.
The program is scheduled to run twice in 2018:
- July 9 to August 3, 2018/ CAD 2,300 (Students should plan to arrive on campus by July 8 at the latest)
- August 6 to August 31, 2018/ CAD 2,300 (Students should plan to arrive on campus by August 5 at the latest)

The program tuition includes the following:
- English classes (maximum class size 18)
- Bus pass
- Airport greeting
- All cultural events and activities
- Access to a multimedia computer lab, the university libraries, and other university facilities during their studies

Application fee: $150 CDN (non-refundable)
Program fee: $2300 CDN
Session 1: July 9 to August 3, 2018: Please return completed application plus $400 CDN deposit (non-refundable) to English as a Second Language Programs email@example.com by June 1, 2018. Full tuition fees are due on or before June 18, 2018.
Session 2: August 6 to August 31, 2018: Please return completed application plus $400 CDN deposit (non-refundable) to English as a Second Language Programs firstname.lastname@example.org by July 2, 2018. Full tuition fees are due on or before July 20, 2018.
Note: Applicants must be 19 years or older by the session start date.
Accommodations & Transportation
Students will be staying in residence on Memorial University’s campus, which is only a 20-minute walk from downtown St. John’s and its beautiful harbour. The residence is apartment-style, where 4 women or 4 men share a kitchen and a bathroom. Each student will have a small, private bedroom with a lock. Meals are not included.
Students will be provided with a one-month bus pass for the cities of St. John’s and Mount Pearl. Students will be greeted at the airport by staff from Memorial University.
Outside Class Activities
In addition to attending classes, students will have many opportunities to visit local historic/scenic sites and to participate in activities such as hiking, whale watching, concerts, city tours and sports activities, just to name a few.
