Heather McLeod

I am a Professor with the Faculty of Education and I teach arts education courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have won national, university-wide, and faculty level awards for teaching and curriculum development. I previously served as Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs). I am the former Editor-in-chief of the Canadian Review of Art Education, a bi-lingual, electronic, peer-reviewed journal. I use qualitative and arts-based research approaches. My current funded research initiatives include an Art Hive community project, a poetry project, and an exploration of becoming a researcher/developing an academic identity. Before entering the academy I taught in British Columbia, and in Nunavut, Canada, and I have also worked in communications, training and policy development for a provincial teachers’ federation and for government.
