List of Technologies
At the Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL), we administer and support a variety of technologies that can be used to enhance teaching and learning at Memorial University.
Need help with integrating technologies into your teaching? We have a variety of self-help resources that provide you with step-by-step instructions to get you through the technical side of teaching online.
A-Z List of Tools:
Blogs - provide an online space for developing topics, assignments and projects.
Brightspace (D2L) - the learning management system used to deliver online courses and supplement face-to-face courses; also effective for various academic and administrative functions.
Lecture Capture - allows instructors to record and share face-to-face lectures with the class, or to get creative with the DIY web capture.
ePortfolio - collect and organize electronic artifacts (i.e. text, audio, photo, video, etc.) that demonstrate accomplishments, abilities, ideas, reflections, etc.
Online Rooms - a virtual classroom/meeting room tool that instructors and students can use to communicate and collaborate in real-time.
Respondus Quiz Tool - whether you have test banks of questions from a publisher or questions you have written yourself, Respondus can help you create paper-based or online quizzes that can easily be imported in Brightspace (D2L).
Linney - a learning object repository supported by Memorial University; houses collections of digital learning objects to use, repurpose or inspire creation of content for teaching and learning.
Student Response Systems - also known as clickers, these wireless devices are used to conduct student participation activities in the classroom.
Videoconferencing - facilitates teaching and learning across communities and campuses by connecting people with each other.
Video streaming - instead of having students download videos for a course, streaming video sends the media in a continuous stream, which plays as it arrives.
