Animal Resource Centre (ARC)

Parking Impact to Areas 29 and 30

Construction of the Animal Resource Centre (ARC) begun September 11, 2017. This will include closure of parts of Area 29 and 30.

Phase One – Complete April 29, 2018

The initial site preparation will displace Area 29 (formerly Area 9) permit holders. The Area 29 - Gravel Lot (40 spaces) will remain open while the remaining Area 29 lot will be closed.

Permit holders displaying a valid Area 29 permit will be permitted to relocate to the Area 27 - Parking Garage located on Arctic Avenue. Area 29 permit holders may park in permit spaces only on Level 2 and Level 3 of the Area 27 - Parking Garage.

Phase Two – April 30, 2018

Construction of the Animal Resource Centre (ARC) is continuing. In anticipation of the next phase of construction, contractors will be changing the current hoarding configuration on Apr. 30. A portion of area 29 will open while some of area 30 will close. The approximate number of spaces remains relatively unchanged.

Permit holders displaying a valid area 29/30 permit will continue to be permitted to park in the four story parking garage, area 27, located on Arctic Ave. on the second floor, and the entire third floor. Please be reminded that area 29/30 permits are not valid on the fourth floor of the garage (Eastern Health area 9E). For more information, please contact parking@mun.ca.

Upon completion of the project, some parking will be reinstated in Area 29, though a number of permit holders will be permanently moved. Area 30 will have some partial space loss during the project, with no long term parking loss.


 FAQ:

- Will I need to pay more this year for my parking pass in this area? Area 29 and 30 permit holders will be honored in area 27, at no additional cost to employees for this 2017/2018 permit year.

- Will I need to pay more for this area in the spring when parking allocation is completed? Permit holders re-located to area 27 will be required to pay the full rate of area 27 in the 2018/2019 renewal period.
