Standing out in the crowd
Jennifer Mallard, a third year Business Commerce student decided to try something different when applying for her first work term. Jenny says “I was a little discouraged at first after I didn’t get chosen in the first round of the job competition, but when a position at the Genesis Centre came up in the second round it seemed like a perfect opportunity for me, I was extremely excited.” After applying for the position and getting an interview, she was informed that she would be required to give a 60 second pitch on why the centre should hire her. Jenny channelled her passion for singing and song writing, and decided to write a little song about why they should hire her, and performed it in the interview! A couple hours after the interview, Jenny was contacted and offered the job! Check out Jenny’s 60 second pitch above.
