Nucleotide = nucleoside +
phosphate
A nucleotide is a nucleoside
monophosphate. The 9-C of adenine base
is added to the 1-C of deoxyribose, to produce
the nucleoside Deoxyadenylic acid. The
nucleotide is formed by addition of the monophospate to
the projecting 5’-carbon of the
sugar.
The other
three Nucleotides are formed in an analogous way.
