Lord Kelvin Model

Lord Kelvin on the Age of the Earth (1895)

Based on the assumption that the Sun burned by conventional processes known in the 1890s, and experiments with the cooling of heated balls, Lord Kelvin calculated that the Sun was less than 300 Myr old, that the Earth was less than 40 MYr old, and would have been habitable for a period of 10 ~ 30 Myr only.
