The 16 Kbp mitochondrial DNA genome of Anarhichas spp. was initially amplified with three PCR Primer pairs in overlapping regions of 4.3, 4.6, and 6.8 Kbp. Each region was then sequenced with a series of short overlapping internal primers that covered each region in blocks of ca. 300 ~ 400 bp.
