Galapagos Finches (Geospiza spp.)

Color plates by Elizabeth Gould from Volume 3 of "Zoology of the Voyage of the HMS Beagle" (1837). Her husband John provided the taxonomic descriptions. He identified fifteen new species that were unique to the Galapagos Archipelago, and which varied widely in beak morphology, even between adjacent islands.
