Program Requirements

I. Courses
Required Courses:

MED 6800, Health Ethics Theory

MED 6801, Important Cases in Health Ethics

MED 6806, Introduction to the Canadian Health System
Elective Courses:

Three elective courses (nine credit hours), chosen in consultation with the supervisor/advisor.

II. Practicum
This practicum involves 40 hours of work in the areas of research ethics, clinical ethics, and policy review and development. Students shadow clinical ethicists, attend research ethics board meetings, and contribute to policy analysis, among other activities.

III. Final Project
Students complete either a thesis, a capstone project, or three health ethics research papers.
