Marine bacterial pathogenesis and fish vaccinology

Aquaculture is an important source of human food and it has the fastest growth-rate of all animal-producing food sectors. Aquaculture is an important socio-economic sector in Canada and Newfoundland. However, in Canada, as well as in the global aquaculture industry, infectious diseases are the most serious issue limiting production. Bacterial infectious diseases are a recalcitrant issue affecting the marine finfish aquaculture industry. Here, I will revise our ongoing research related to host-pathogen interaction and fish vaccinology.
