Research Statement

My Ph.D. research investigates the long-term history of human-environmental interactions on the Pacific Northwest Coast in the unceded lands and traditional territory of the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation. Through the lens of historical ecology and archaeology of the present, combined with high-resolution biogeochemical analysis of archaeological, historic, and modern collections of marine bivalves, I will interpret the history of shellfish harvesting and how the impacts of historic pollution and ocean change have affected Tsleil-Waututh First Nation shellfish harvesting practices over space and time.
