Chand Mia

PhD Candidate (Anthropology), Memorial University of Newfoundland

Mr. Chand Mia earned a bachelor’s (2016) and thesis-based master’s (Distinction, 2018) degree in Anthropology from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. He currently serves as a Senior Research Assistant (and a Teaching Fellow) at BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University and, prior to his appointment at BRAC JPGSPH, he worked at Johns Hopkins University Center for Communications, Bangladesh.
Being engaged in public health research, his expertise has grounded by his involvements in qualitative, (digital) ethnographic and mixed methods research. His research interests include implementation analysis, reproductive health, remote and primary healthcare and health promotion. His theoretical and methodological interests focus on the novelty of interpreting the cross-cultural evidences with connection to critical social thoughts—of political economy, governmentality, biopolitics, social suffering, the rationality of subject-object relationship and health systems model. Additionally, he is a peer reviewer of the Substance Abuse journal of Routledge-Tylor Francis Group.
