Portfolio Structure

The administrative portfolio is comprised of five functional area units reporting directly to the office of the vice-president (adminstration & finance) as follows:

Computing and Communications

C&C’s goal is to promote quality and excellence in the delivery of information services to the university community. This is achieved by working with and listening to clients and by creating a positive environment that embraces change, promotes leadership, supports innovation and fosters employee growth. Departmental services include: security; operations; client relationships; enterprise application services; and project management.

Facilities Management

The founders of Memorial University had a desire to create a unique memorial as a tribute to those who served in war and made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom. The university itself--its buildings and its grounds--would be, in perpetuity, a living memorial. Today, the employees of Facilities Management, embrace this responsibility with pride and accept their trust for maintaining, protecting, and further developing this living memorial for the rest of the university community and for the people of this province. Departmental services include: building services & grounds; campus enforcement & patrol; central utilities; custodial services; energy systems & controls; facilities engineering & development; space planning & administration; and work control.

Financial & Administrative Services

The Department of Financial and Administrative Services oversees the financial and budgetary operation of Memorial University of Newfoundland. Departmental services include: disbursements; accounts payable; customs; tendering; research accounting; Cashier's Office; treasury; financial reporting and analysis; financial systems; budgeting; and printing services.

Human Resources

Departmental services include: employee relations and bargaining; recruitment, retention and succession; compensation (including job evaluation); learning and development; equity; payroll; pensions and benefits; health and wellness; administrative services and records; policies; and advisory services.

Risk Services

The goal of Risk Services is to develop and implement frameworks and systems to manage risk across the entire scope of the University, all in a manner that enables the University to fulfill its mission and strategic goals. Departmental services include health and safety; emergency management; and risk and insurance.  Currently the Campus Enforcement and Patrol unit is transitioning to inclusion in the risk services umbrella.
