Re: Re-alignment of Deputy Provost (Students) Portfolio: External Review Report and Visioning Group Reports
I am pleased to share with you the final reports submitted by the four Visioning Groups formed to consider specific sets of recommendations in the External Review Report* regarding the portfolio of the Deputy Provost (Students) and Associate Vice-President (Academic) Undergraduate Studies. The reports focus on the following areas: Health and Wellness; Housing and Ancillary Services; Office of the Registrar; and Student Affairs and Services.
The objectives of this review and realignment process continue to be finding optimal ways to enhance curricular and co-curricular supports for students, and positively impacting the overall academic performance, behavior, health and safety of Memorial’s student body.
The insights and recommendations contained within the Visioning Group Reports have been considered alongside the External Review Report, the Enrolment Plan, the Internationalization White Paper, and correspondence with MUNSU. Each of these pieces, as well as consultations with senior academic leaders, has informed the development of a three-phase proposal for a realigned portfolio structure.
Over the course of the next month, this proposal will be discussed at meetings of the Deans’ Council, Vice-Presidents Council and Senate, and the first phase will then be brought forward for approval by the Board of Regents. Phases two and three are in the formative stages.
Once approval has been attained for phase one, an implementation plan will be communicated to the units involved and will then be shared more broadly.
Again, I wish to express gratitude to all who contributed to the work of the Visioning Groups. Thank you for your insight and input.
David M. Wardlaw
Provost and Vice President (Academic)
