Scholarships

Last year, we awarded more than $2 million in undergraduate scholarships to new and returning students. The following chart explains the requirements to be considered for an entrance scholarship.

NON-RENEWABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
Memorial University Entrance Scholarships (limited number) $2,500 (eq. to 10 courses/30 credit hours)

HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible based on early entrance scholarship average. Scholarships will be awarded as funding allows. A minimum final admission average of 90% is required to maintain entrance scholarship eligibility. No separate scholarship application required.

 

RENEWABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
Warren and Catherine Ball Memorial Entrance Scholarship (limited number) $30,000
($7,500 x 4 years)
NL HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents are automatically considered based on early entrance scholarship average. A minimum final admission average of 90% is required. No separate scholarship application is required.
Memorial University Alumni Entrance Scholarships (limited number) $25,000
($5,000 x 5 years)
NL HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents are considered based on academic excellence, community involvement, national and international achievements, demonstrated leadership in school and extracurricular activities. This scholarship requires an application. Check with your guidance counsellor for details. A minimum final admission average of 90% is required.
Dr. Leslie Harris Memorial University Alumni Association Scholarships

BURSARIES
Joyce Foundation Bursary (limited number) $20,000
($5,000 x 4 years)
The Joyce Foundation Bursary is available to students entering Memorial University who are either currently attending their final year or have graduated within the last twelve months from a high school in Newfoundland and Labrador. Criteria for the awards include a minimum of 70% final admission average (St. John's/Grenfell campuses) or a minimum of 60% final admission average (Marine Institute), demonstration of critical financial need, and perseverance in the face of challenges. Renewal criteria to be met each year. The deadline for this bursary has been extended to Wednesday, Nov. 30. Completed applications must be post-marked by this date.

NOTE: For scholarships specific to an academic program of study, please check with the appropriate faculty or school. Scholarships do not require a separate application unless otherwise stated.
