General Admission Requirements

Credential

WAEC Senior Secondary Certificate or NECO Senior School Certificate.

Applicants who have attended a post-secondary institution must declare this on their application for admission and submit the required documentation outlined below.

 

Required Subject Areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics
  3. Laboratory Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
  5. Elective

NOTE: One subject from areas 2, 3 or 4 above may be waived if further study in that subject is not required for the requested program of study. Students who are missing two or more subject areas at the senior level should contact international_registrar@mun.ca.

 

General Admission Criteria

Admission average
  • Minimum grade of C6 in the required subject areas from WAEC or NECO.
  • Applicants who have attended a post-secondary institution will be assessed on the basis of their results from the most recent institution attended, and must be in clear academic standing (normally a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale).
Proof of English proficiency
Competitive program entry (if applicable)
  • Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions. For further details, refer to the supplementary application forms and documents page.

  • Official copy of Confirmation of Result sent by post or courier directly from WAEC or NECO.

 

If you have completed WAEC/NECO examinations and have not attended a post-secondary institution

 

If you are currently attending a post-secondary institution

When you apply (early decision)
  • Official copy of Confirmation of Result sent by post or courier directly from WAEC or NECO.
  • Official final transcript(s) from all previous post-secondary institutions attended, sent directly from originating institution(s) by post or courier.
  • Interim transcript from current institution. This transcript can be official (submitted directly from the institution) or unofficial (submitted by you).
  • Official course descriptions and detailed course outlines for transfer credit assessment.
  • Official English proficiency test result sent directly from the testing authority.
  • Supplementary application form and documents for your faculty, school or program.
When you complete your examinations (final decision)
  • Official final post-secondary transcript sent directly from the originating institution.

 

If you have attended a post-secondary institution and are no longer enrolled

 

Submitting Your Documents

Supporting documents will only be considered official when received by post or courier directly from the issuing testing authority in an officially sealed envelope.
