General Admission Requirements

Credential

Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) (Malaysian Higher School Certificate) or United Examination Certificate (UEC) for Chinese Independent Schools in Malaysia.

 

Required Subject Areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics*
  3. Laboratory Science* (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
  5. Elective

*Students who are missing an eligible mathematics or laboratory science course, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1 to 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Students who are missing eligible courses in two subject areas should contact international_registrar@mun.ca.

 

General Admission Criteria

Applicants are required to have completed the SPM with a minimum grade of “C” in the required subject areas and minimum grades of “C” on the STPM (Malaysian Higher School Certificate) or a grade of B6 in the required subject areas on the UEC.

Students who complete an alternative curriculum to STPM should also refer to the admissions criteria for that curriculum.

Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions. For further details, refer to the supplementary application forms and documents page.

  • Certified translation of SPM and STPM (Malaysian Higher School Certificate) or United Examination Certificate for Chinese Independent Schools in Malaysia and a certified copy of the original native-language documents sent by post or courier.

 

If you have completed high school and not attended a post-secondary institution

  • Certified translation of SPM and STPM (Malaysian Higher School Certificate) or United Examination Certificate for Chinese Independent Schools in Malaysia and a certified copy of the original native-language documents sent by post or courier.
  • Proof of English language proficiency through a standardized test.
  • Supplementary application form and documents for your faculty, school or program.

 

If you have attended a post-secondary institution
