Memorial Toastmasters is one of three chapters in St. John's, Newfoundland Labrador, where one can learn how to speak in public, properly. Our club is very friendly, with about
30 members. We follow the same type of agenda at each meeting, where you as a member have the opportunity to take on speaking roles. These roles include but are not limited to
Timer, Ah Counter, Word Master, Table Topics Master, Educational Tip, Toastmaster, Chair, Evaluator and General Evaluator. If none of these questions answer yours, feel free to

1. Does your club accept non-members?
Yes, we encourage everyone to attend. As a guest, you are free to attend as often as you like, free of charge.
2. Does your club accept non-members that are not a part of Memorial University?
Yes, Memorial University is where our meetings are conducted, but membership is not limited to those affiliated with the university. The general public is welcome.
3. What is the age range of your members?
We have a wide variety of ages in our club. Our membership is comprised of both graduate and undergraduate students
from the university, as well as working professionals and retirees - just about anyone who wants to learn more about public speaking.
4. How can I join Toastmasters?
First, come as a guest. There you will meet our VP Membership who will give you all the information necessary for becoming a member.
5. How much does it cost to become a member?
There is a one-time cost of $20 for the Toastmasters International New Member Kit, plus a cost of $40 every six months.
6. What do I get when I join as a member of Memorial Toastmasters?
When you become a member, you will recieve your Toastmasters pin, the Toastmaster
International monthly magazine, a binder created specifically by Memorial Toastmasters providing all the information on conducting roles, and developing your first speech. A
couple of weeks after you are a member, you will recieve the Toastmasters International New Members Kit. Also you will become a part of a great group of individuals from which
you can select a mentor to help and support you along the way.
7. What can I expect to learn at Memorial Toastmasters?
Learning is endless at Memorial Toastmasters. There are two educational tracks: communications and leadership; you may participate in both at the same time, if you wish. You
progress along each track by working through a series of manuals, each of which offers a set of carefully crafted projects to complete. Each project includes an evaluation guide,
which gives club members an easy way to provide immediate feedback as the project is completed. Once you become a member, you can begin the educational program right away.
8. Can I cancel my membership anytime?
Yes, if you decide to discontinue your membership, just let us know and we will remove you from any further coorespondence.
