Heterosexual Pride day in Regina

Globe and Mail, May 31st, 2001, p. A7

Regina Mayor Pat Fiacco signed a proclamation declaring June 18th a day of celebration of the "intact heterosexual family unit" as "ordained by God". The parade will include floats, flags, banners and representatives of divorced fathers and right-to-life groups. After all, the proclamation argues, "when monogamy is practiced by husbands and wives who enjoy sexual relations in the confines of their heterosexual marriage" they do not have to worry about "STDs, AIDS or broken hearts." The Gay and Lesbian community plans a counter celebration of their own.
