President's Message

Dear Members,

It’s an absolute honor and privilege to present you the Teaching Assistants’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (TAUMUN) as the President. On behalf of TAUMUN, I would like to welcome you all to one of the largest teaching asistants’ unions in the province.
A union is an organized association by the workers formed to protect their rights and interests. TAUMUN was accredited as a union by the Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Relations Board in August 2009. Since then, TAUMUN has been fighting for the rights of the Graduate Assistant, Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant of Memorial University of Newfoundland. We always ensure to negotiate with University authorities for the maximum welfares and safe work environment of the members.
We believe, we have to work hard together to enhance the involvment of general memebers with TAUMUN. In this matter, we arrange several recreational and academic events throughout the year such as TA training, Lunch and Learn series, excursions, etc., which definnitely help the graduate students for their personal and professional development.
As per the agreement with Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), TAUMUN gets the opportunity to attend several conferences. We ensure the involvement of general members in those conferences as well.
We represent TAUMUN at orientation program of the university to introduce our activities to the new students.
Finally, the excutive committee works with new ideas and enthasiasm for the betterment of the TAUMUN. We hope, we will get your appreciation and active perticipation in our various events to make those successful.
Together We can make a better TAUMUN.
