The Student Wellness and Counselling Centre closes each year between December 25 and the start of the Winter semester. 


Health Services

If an emergency arises while on campus please call Campus Enforcement and Patrol at 864-4100. For off-campus emergencies dial 911 or, if able, proceed to the nearest emergency room. 


Mental Health and Wellness Supports

keep.meSAFE - All students can access the keep.meSAFE mental wellness counselling program at any time of the day or night by calling 1-844-451-9700 within North America or 011-416-380-6578 outside of North America. 

811 - If you are experiencing a mental health and/or addiction crisis and require support or health information, call 811 to speak with a registered nurse trained in crisis intervention. In the St. John's region, the Mental Health Crisis Line/Mobile Crisis Response Team is available 24 hours a day by calling 811. 

9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline - If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

24-hour Walk-In Psychiatric Assessment Unit at the Waterford Hospital on Waterford Bridge Road. Call 709-777-3021 or 709-777-3022 for additional information. 

Doorways St. John's provides rapid access to mental health and addictions counselling services "one session at a time". Call 709-752-4903 for more information or to access single-session counselling services. 

211 - A free, confidential information navigation service that connects people to critical government and community-based health and social services in their community. 

Lifewise NL Warmline - Call 1-855-753-2560 (English) or 1-833-753-5460 (French) to speak with trained peer supporters from 10-12 a.m. seven days a week. 

Mental Health and Addictions Systems Navigator - Call 709-752-3916 or 1-877-999-7589. 

Bridge the gApp - An online resource designed to support mental health and wellness through a wide range of supports and tools, including a regional service directory, links to local services and self-help resources.

The Student Life website has a list of food supports and resources for the holiday season, including information about food bank hours, complimentary meals and more.
