Assignment Prep Area

There is an area set aside where you can staple, cut, tape, hole punch, or anything else you might need to do with an assignment to prepare it to pass in to a professor.

Computer Access
| |
We have two computers in our centre with Internet access just waiting for you to drop by to make use of them. All you have to do is sign up for the times you wish to use the computer and they are yours. Priority goes to those wishing to use the computers for course work. The time slots between 12-2 oclock are left open for members to drop by to check their email or other quick searches. There is a printer for your use as well. It only costs 5 cents per page. Wow thats pretty cheap! There are disks available as well just in case you forget one. There are used ones you can have for only 25 cents each, or a new one is available for $1.00.

Emergency Contact Service

Leave your schedule with us, give our number out to people who need to contact you, and well do the rest. If you need a contact number on campus use ours. When someone calls and needs to reach you right away, one of our members will look at your schedule to see where you are and deliver the message right away. We know how important it is to know you can be reached if necessary and the peace of mind that goes along with it.

Informal Peer Counselling

Sometimes it is great to have someone just listen to our problems. We can lend an ear. Many of us have been through situations that have increased the pressure of university life. There may be children to deal with, maybe a separation, perhaps dealing with a death in the family, or maybe there is something else that needs to be talked through, we understand.
If you would prefer to speak with a professional, we can refer you to the Counselling Centre, their services are free to Memorial University Students.

Lunch Facilities

12:00pm in the UC can be pretty crazy. Need a place to go get away from it all? Come up to the centre. We have free tea and coffee with all the fixings. We also have a microwave so that you can warm your meal. There is a fridge to keep your food in until lunchtime, giving you one less thing to carry around. Do you like to carry a water bottle? We have a water cooler so you can fill up your bottle with cold water.

Envelopes and folders of various sizes are available for purchase at very reasonable rates.

Office Hours
| |
Members can take advantage of the centre anytime between 7am and 11pm, as long as they have the lock code number. You gain access to this number after you have been a member for one semester.
New Members/Non-members can visit the centre during the office hours that are posted on the door. There is always a possibility that someone else might be around so take a chance and pop by anyway. Leave a message on the bulletin board outside to let us know when you were by.

We have various dictionaries (four languages), books for writing APA, MLA, and other methods for citing sources in research papers. We have books on how to write a great resume, on how to use various computer programs, as well as an assortment of novels and short stories.
