Organization Information
The Market Fresh Cafe provides a new way for YMCA members and associates to purchase fresh local food and connect with local entrepreneurs products while picking up food on the run.
YMCA Business Planning Program will provide an opportunity for local food vendors and manufacturers to showcase their products at the café, and will increase exposure to a new clientele. The Business Planning Program will engage companies that are committed to the creation of quality, local products. Priority will be given to those with a specific focus on healthy living, as well as the support and employment of local workers. The program will outsource products from local vendors. Social enterprise will offer members, staff and the community a café that will offer diverse, healthy choices while celebrating local food entrepreneurs.

This social enterprise will complement the YMCA Business Program by providing an opportunity for revenue generation and by helping us fulfill our mandate supporting and celebrating entrepreneurs in our province.

Job Description – Social Enterprise Development Assistant
The Market Fresh Café seeks a student to help build and expand this social enterprise serving YMCA NL members and family internally and Reporting to the General Manager, Employment and Enterprise Services (Acting) and/or lead for the café, the student will play a marketing role including tasks such as:

- Market research for social enterprise development
- Examining opportunities for expansion through outside sales

The successful candidates will work approx. 10 hours per week. Work space will be provided with the possibility of a co-working space experience for networking opportunities. Orientation and an onboarding phase in will be provided. The student will also receive a family membership to the YMCA NL.

Preferred Skills
The ideal candidate should:
• Be a senior student at the Faculty of Business Administration, preferably with a marketing & communications background
• Have a good understanding of social enterprise
• Possess business development skills
• Effective communication skills, orally and written
• Excellent organisational skills
