Welcome to the Sexual Harassment Information Site

The Sexual Harassment Office of Memorial University of Newfoundland provides the latest information on sexual harassment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Like most progressive educational institutions, Memorial University has a Sexual Harassment Policy and Procedure and is committed to the creation of a campus environment that is respectful and inclusive - and thus free of sexual harassment.

The Sexual Harassment Policy, The University-Wide Procedures for Sexual Harassment Concerns and Complaints, and the availability of the Sexual Harassment Advisor, clearly indicate that sexual harassment will not be tolerated at Memorial University.

As students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the campus - this is our right.

If you want to learn more, please contact the Sexual Harassment Advisor at 864-2015 or the Sexual Harassment Office at 864-8199.

December 6th Vigil 2011

In 1991, the Parliament of Canada established December 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day commemorates the anniversary of the 1989 Montreal Massacre when fourteen young women were tragically killed at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal because of their gender.

Each year, members of the Newfoundland community gather together for a Vigil at Memorial University to remember December 6, 1989. This year, all are invited to attend the December 6th Vigil on Tuesday, Dec. 6th in Room 2006 in the SJ Carew (Engineering) Building. The Vigil starts at 6:30 and is roughly one hour in length. It is followed by a small reception in the foyer. Free parking is available. For more information, please see December 6 Vigil.
