Vascular plant images from Kiska Island, Aleutian Islands, Alaska

Remote oceanic islands are often characterized by their unique vegetation. This is true for the Aleutian Islands, that vary in the diversity and structure of their plant communities. Kiska Island (part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge) has several plant species found nowhere else in Alaska, one endemic to the island, and other rare and unusual species. This page presents a selection of images of these (photos by IL Jones).
