Required Forms for Internal Approval/Signatures
For grant applications and contracts, use the DEAN OF SCIENCE CHECKLIST AND SIGNATURE SHEET.
The checklist must be completed and signed (in the order noted above) for all research applications submitted by faculty, and should be accompanied by a copy of the application.
Department Head Role in Review and Approval Process
Department heads provide advice on grant proposals/contracts; review sign-of on all research grants and contracts/agreements (after investigator signature(s)); confirming research time, space, and departmental resources.
Associate Dean (Research & Graduate) Role in Review and Approval Process
The associate dean (research & graduate) administers the faculty mentoring program, provides feedback on proposals and clauses; completes the final review and signs on behalf of the Faculty of Science, confirming time, space and resources at the faculty level (where noted).
- Regardless of whether a funding agency’s research application form includes a signature line, the appropriate Dean of Science Checklist and Signature Page must be completed and assigned for all requests for research funding.
- Regardless of whether an institutional signature line is provided on a granting agency’s application form, or whether the funding agency requests that applications be completed through an on-line portal or submitted electronically as an e-mail attachment, all requests for research funding require signatures from the applicant/co-applicant, department head, associate dean (research and graduate), and the institution (Memorial). Depending on the funding agency, the institutional signature is provided mostly by the director, Research Grant and Contract Services. For specific grant programs institutional signature is provided by the Vice President Research.
