Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer Facility (TIMS)
This facility is equipped with a Finnigan MAT 262V TI-mass spectrometer which arrived in February 1993. It is state-of-the-art, with 8 Faraday collectors and SEM-ion counting system. This is part of the class 100 clean lab complex
The TIMS facility is supported by a class 100 clean lab for the preparation of 'clean' separates for the analysis of Sr and Nd/Sm isotopes from powdered rock samples and mineral separates. Common Pb separates for both powdered rock samples and mineral separates are also prepared in this facility.
