The X-ray diffraction lab contains a Rigaku AFC8-Saturn 70 single crystal X-ray diffractometer, equipped with an X-Stream 2000 low temperature system and a SHINE optic.
Data collection and processing are done using CrystalClear™ software. Structural solutions and reports are normally done with CrystalStructure™, however, the freeware package OLEX2 is available, and instruction in its use can be provided to interested users.
The X-ray lab houses a site licence to the Cambridge Structural Database and users can search the database using ConQuest, and analyze their results with the associated CSD System components (Mercury, VISTA, IsoStar and Mogul). Additional licenses for research groups can be arranged through the X-ray lab staff.
