RResearch interests in the Faculty of Medicine are wide
in scope, spanning the divisions of
clinical sciences, basic medical sciences and community medicine/
behavioural sciences.
Several research groups have been established within the faculty,
including immunology, cell molecular biology, cardiovascular physiology,
oncology, neuroscience, population-based epidemiology, clinical
epidemiology and health services delivery. While the faculty's
research, including graduate program offerings and recruitment,
tends to focus on these groupings, research developments in a
variety of medical scientific areas are ongoing: hypertension,
stroke, kidney disorders, arthritis, cancer therapy, human genetic
disorders, autoimmunity, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, mental
disorders, heart disease, epilepsy, nutritional disorders, hepatitis
and organ transplantation.
