TThe research profile of the philosophy department is wide-ranging. With notable strength in the history of philosophy, much research relates to major historical figures: Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, Bacon, Hume, Sinoza, Leibniz, Kant, Kierkegaard, Heidegger, Whitehead. Major areas of research include: metaphysics, philosophy of mind, epistemology, subjectivity, ethical and political theory, event theory, process, creativity, cryptanalysis.
