Review of Research Support Services
In July 2013, Dr. Richard Marceau, vice-president (research) initiated a review of the systems and structures related to research grant and contract support services within the Office of the Vice President (Research). The draft review identifies 13 recommendations to improve his Office’s research grant and contract support activities by streamlining and simplifying processes, empowering Memorial’s academic units at all campuses, intensifying its partnerships with the Office of the Vice President Finance and Administration and the School of Graduate Studies and aiming to provide a superior customer service experience wherever possible.
One of the recommendations contained within the report relates to the Core Research Equipment and Instrument Training Network, commonly referred to as CREAIT. During the course of this review, it was noted that a separate review of CREAIT was undertaken during the Spring/Summer of 2012 and that its findings were never publically released.
The Board of Regents has approved the recommendations stemming from this review. The first recommendation to be implemented is the reorganization of research support services. More information is available online. The other recommendations will be implemented throughout the next 12 months.
