7 Continuing Professional Development

The Faculty of Medicine’s Professional Development and Conferencing Services (PDCS) office provides innovative, accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to enhance competencies of health professionals, faculty, students, and trainees with the goal of improving public health. PDCS offers a breadth of learning opportunities each year which address the needs of health professionals who practice in both urban and rural communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, nationally, and internationally. Programs are offered in a variety of formats, at a distance, and in accessible locations, including: live/onsite (face-to-face) programs; online self-directed and facilitated programs; distance enabled learning via unified communications (audio/video/web); discipline clinical rounds; and educational assessment and retraining experiences are available. PDCS also offers a certificate program in Medical Teaching and, in conjunction with the Gardiner Centre, a certificate in Physician Management and Leadership.
