The Opportunity Fund: for a better tomorrow
Launched in March 1997 with a goal of $50 million, Memorial's largest-ever fund raising campaign concluded in June 2000 and exceeded expectations by bringing in nearly $60 million. Donations from the private and public sectors have already changed the face of the university; the number and size of scholarships have increased, exciting new research and teaching initiatives have been funded, and new student services and recreation facilities are enhancing the Memorial experience. Festival of Anniversaries: 1998-2000
Memorial's two-year program of anniversary celebrations continued this year. A variety of special events marked the 75th anniversary of the founding of Memorial University College in 1925 and the 25th anniversary of the opening of Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in 1975. [more]
