Units in the President's Portfolio
Marketing & Communications is Memorial's public relations, marketing and communications centre. The division serves the university's internal and external communications and marketing needs and responds to the community's needs for information about Memorial.
The Office of Alumni Affairs and Development exists to foster relationships between and among alumni, between alumni and the univeristy, and to encourage giving in support of Memorial's strategic priorities, which include students, faculty and infrastructure. The team works to develop services and benefits, manage events, circulate news about other alumni and the univeristy, and create opportunities for alumni and friends of the university to give back.
Memorial's Office of Public Engagement (OPE) is the steward of the Public Engagement Framework. The OPE is the catalyst for action on public engagment at Memorial, working with internal and external groups to design programs and initiatives that advance the goals and objectives of the framework. The OPE also provides leadership and supports for a range of public engagement-related units and activities within Memorial, and is the lead on strategic external relations for the university.
The Leslie Harris Centre has two primary goals: to assist in the responsible development of the economy and society of Newfoundland and Labrador; and to stimulate informed discussion of important provincial issues. The centre helps diverse groups and individuals connect with the resources of Memorial through teaching, research and outreach activities.
The Office of General Counsel provides strategic legal advice as well as a full range of legal services directly to the university, its senior administration and the Board of regents. It identifies and recommends procedures and practices to protect the university from undue liability and assists with risk assessment and control.
