Eaton Society Awards

Four new alumni were awarded membership in the prestigious Eaton Society this year: Ed Delaney, M.Ed. '82, Paul Charles, B.Comm. '72, Millie Rahn, MA '94 and Ross Batson, B. Comm. '64.

The Eaton Society is an honour society and is part of the Alumni Association of Memorial University of Newfoundland. It was named in honour of the society's patron and honorary first member, Dr. J.D. Eaton. Membership in the Society is awarded by the Alumni Association executive in recognition of outstanding contributions to the community, the university, the association or a particular field of endeavor. This year's members were awarded Certificates of Membership at various Alumni Association functions across the country.

Ross Batson is presented with the Eaton Society Award at an alumni get together in London, Ontario.

On Nov. 12 the Toronto chapter hosted a reading by renowned Newfoundland writer aandMUN alumnus Wayne Johnston. Alumnus Paul Charles was admitted to the Eaton Society at the event.


Mary C. Clancy, Canadian consul-general to New England, hosted an alumni event on Jan. 27. Eaton Society membership was presented to MUN alumna Millie Rahn. On hand for the event were L-R: Rahn; Sandra Kelly, minister of Industry, Trade and Technology; Clancy, Dr. Meisen, and Barbara Girard.
