PROCEDURE FOR THE SERVICE RECOGNITION PROGRAM

  

Any employee who wishes to have an eligible period of prior service recognized should contact the Department of Human Resources by e-mail to jpmarch@mun.ca and provide the necessary details.

The Department of Human Resources processes each request received and advises individuals in writing of the appropriate change in service recognition dates.


10 years of service
For each employee who has completed 10 years, the Director of Human Resources sends a letter thanking them for their service, with copies to her/his unit and personal file.


15 years of service
For each employee who has completed 15 years of service, a certificate is prepared by the Department of Human Resources, signed by the Director of Human Resources and forwarded to the employee's unit head with a letter from the Director of Human Resources requesting that the certificate be presented to the employee on behalf of the University.


20, 25, 30 & 35 years of service
For each employee who has completed 20, 25, 30 & 35 years of service, the service is recognized with the presentation of a pin and certificate at an annual service awards ceremony organized by the Department of Human Resources, who is responsible for the following:

  1. Identifying and verifying service for those employees who are eligible for 20, 25, 30 & 35 years service recognition.
  2. Ordering pins
  3. Arranging for printing of certificates
  4. Notifying employees of the time and location of the ceremony
  5. Inviting Dean/Director/Department Head of each employee's unit to the ceremony.


The President presents the certificates and pins at the ceremony.
