The Legacy Society: A Celebration of Life
What is the Legacy Society?
The Legacy Society was formed in 1997 in order to bring
together individuals whose passion for a Memorial University
education would stand the test of time. The Legacy Society honours
those individuals who have made long term plans to support the
university through a planned gift.
Who are the Legacy Society’s members?
The members of the Legacy Society include alumni and friends of the university who have made a commitment to Memorial University through a charitable bequest. We respect and value our Legacy Society members’ right to privacy and will only disclose the names of individuals who wish to make their intents known to the public.
What are the benefits of joining the Legacy Society?
In addition to the knowledge that your gift will impact upon future generations of students, you will also be able to enjoy the following benefits of being a member.
- A subscription to Luminus Magazine and Luminus Express online newsletter.
- Invitations to attend special Legacy Society events.
- In many instances, bequests can provide you with significant tax savings.
How can I join the Legacy Society?
Joining the Legacy Society is easy. If you have left
provisions in your current will or estate plan that will support
the university, you simply need to contact the university and
inform us of your intent. We will supply you with a Statement of
Intent form and provide non-legal counsel on your request. To learn
