*Laura Brandon is Curator of War Art at the Canadian War Museum
in Ottawa. Her illustrated lecture will discuss the programme known as the Canadian War Memorials and the
contribution made to that collection by Newfoundland born artist Maurice Cullen. Although born in Newfoundland,
Cullen was one of the first artists sent from Canada to the Western Front. The Canadian War Museum has thrity-three
paintings from Cullen.
The public is also invited to view a film narrated by Newfoundland's Gordon Pinsent, Canvas of Conflict, Art of
the Great War that features art from the Canadian War Museum's collection.
