St. John's has shopping centres and districts to suit every taste.
From eclectic downtown t-shirt stores to big box stores, you can find anything you need in the local shopping scene.
Historically, Downtown St. John's has been the centre of civic and commercial activity. Today, downtown St. John’s features the finest shopping available with fashionable clothing boutiques for men and women, unique specialty stores, and intricate handmade crafts. There are over 550 business in the greater downtown area alone!
Art galleries, bookstores and music stores featuring the work of local artists are scattered throughout the downtown.

The Avalon Mall
The Avalon Mall on Kenmount Road offers 140 stores: men’s, women’s, children’s clothing, fast food court, restaurants, lounges, 12 cinemas, Flea Market/Craft Fair on Sunday evenings and more!
Also called Terrace on the Square, this shopping experience sits only a few blocks from the main campus.
Churchill Square (named for Winston Churchill, whose bust sits in the park across the street) offers a small but unique shopping experience for students living on campus.
With restaurants, a grocery store, boutiques, sports supply stores, and an oper-air Farmers' Market, the Square is the perfect shopping spot for those living on or near the main campus.
Big Box Shopping
Kelsey Drive and Stavanger Drive are the main "big box" shopping areas in St. John's. Both are accessible via buses that leave from campus. Here you'll find all the large chain stores offering groceries, school supplies, furniture, home improvement, clothing and more.
