Hailed by the San Francisco Examiner as“the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling”, Alasdair Fraser’s dynamic playing and engaging stage presence have fostered an international following.

Recognized as a major force behind the resurgence of traditional Scottish fiddling, Fraser has been featured on television shows, radio programs and top movie soundtracks (Last of the Mohicans, Titanic). His vast repertoire spans centuries of Scottish music and includes his own compositions, which blend a profound understanding of the Scottish tradition with cutting-edge musical explorations.

Alasdair has released numerous recordings, including Fire and Grace with cellist Natalie Haas (Scots Trad Album of the Year Award 2004).

Natalie Haas

A vibrant young cellist, Natalie Haas is already a seasoned performer, recording artist and teacher. A graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City, Haas fell in love with Celtic music at the Valley of the Moon Scottish Festival at age 11. Inspired by festival director Alasdair Fraser, Natalie began to investigate the cello’s potential for rhythmic accompaniment to fiddle tunes. She has joined master Scottish fiddler Fraser for performances in , , the , and , including NAFCO 2001 and 2006. The duo has released two recordings to critical acclaim: Fire and Grace (Winner of the Scots Trad Music Album of the Year Award 2004) and In the Moment (2007).
