Sherry Johnson (Canada - ON)

Sherry Johnson started step dancing and square dancing at the age of six and fiddling at the age of 14. With her five siblings she has travelled across North America, performing and competing in fiddling and step dancing contests. With other groups she has performed in Irleand, Scotland, Austria and Columbia. Sherry wrote her Ph.D. dissertation on the negotiation of tradition in Ontario fiddling and step dancing contests. She is currently teaching in the Fine Arts Cultural Studies program at York University in Toronto where she manages to fit some fiddling and step dancing content into just about every course she teaches. Sherry remains active in the Ontario fiddle and step dancing community as a performer, teacher and judge.
