The Exorior Duo - Michelle Cheramy, flute and Nathan Cook, cello - with Kristina Szutor, piano present a program of modern romantics, with works by Yuko Uebayashi, Hilary Tann, Norman Dello Joio, and the world premiere of a new work by Karim Al-Zand. The music of this Canadian-American composer has been called "strong and startlingly lovely" (Boston Globe). Petro-Canada Hall.

Breaking New Ground


The Scruncheons Percussion Ensemble take to the stage with new works written by the members of the group, as well as some percussion classics. You'll hear a little something for everyone!

From the kitchen to the music hall, enjoy 3 contrasting dishes for a mixed ensemble of strings, winds and piano. Shaking things up are the talents of both MUN faculty members and friends of the School of Music led by clarinetist Paul Bendsza, performing dynamic works of Rabl, Copland and Martinu.

SUNCOR Energy Strings Showcase


Suncor Energy has a passion for music! Partnering with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and the School of Music, they have generously sponsored four graduate string fellowships. Tonight this dynamic quartet of violins, viola and cello showcase their work together.

Carmina Burana


Carl Orff's classic cantata on medieval themes makes for a magical evening of music in a dramatic arrangement for Wind Ensemble and choirs. Conductors Jason Caslor and Douglas Dunsmore lead a massed choir of over 150 voices including the MUN Festival and Chamber Choirs, along with guest soloists, and 50 instrumentalists. Do not miss this spectacular night! At the Arts and Culture Centre, 8pm. Tickets available from the Arts and Culture Centre: $25/$15 (students/seniors). No passes.

All in One


OPERA@MUN presents a weekend of operatic works in one act. Saturday evening we explore the complexities of human relationships through two, 20th-Century operatic masterworks. Visit the magical world of our newest opera commission, Le Nez de la Sorcière, a Sunday matinee performance for families. Performances: Saturday, March 24 at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm (Take advantage of our Sunday series price: bring the whole family for $20.00!).

Tim Brady - 24 Frames


This innovative and exciting concert will keep you on the edge of your seat! Recent Composer in Residence with the Orchestre symphonique de Laval (2008-2011), composer and guitarist Tim Brady will perform his exciting and ambitious 24 Frames project in a concert featuring works for solo guitar, electronics and video. “Brady as soloist, gave a virtual clinic on the instrument showing its unbelievable versatility. He is a guitar lover's delight, seemingly capable of anything.” (Winnipeg Free Press) In Petro-Canada Hall, 8 pm.
